Dental and Oral Health Awareness Mission in Collaboration with Operation Smile – Egypt
31 Jul 2025Under the patronage of the University President and the Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, the Community Service and Environmental Affairs Committee organized a dental and oral health awareness initiative in collaboration with Operation Smile – Egypt.
This initiative reflects the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to serving the local community, particularly within the university’s geographic surroundings and neighboring residential areas. The program aimed to promote children’s oral health and provide specialized care through direct community engagement.
The mission took place over three days—Sunday, July 20; Tuesday, July 22; and Wednesday, July 23, 2025—at the University Clinic Complex.
The visiting convoy was received by:
- The Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Affairs
- The Director of the Dental Clinic Complex
- The Head of the Department of Pedodontics, MIU
During the visit, 75 children (ages 3 to 14) and 10 adult patients were welcomed and received care. The Pedodontics Clinics provided treatment, with dental interns delivering services under the direct supervision of faculty members from the Department of Pedodontics.
In addition to clinical treatment, an oral and dental health awareness campaign was conducted. Children participated in engaging activities, including coloring sessions, and received dental hygiene kits that included toothbrushes and toothpaste.
A key highlight of the visit was a meeting between:
- The University President
- The Dean of the Faculty
- The Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development
- Prof. Dr. Rania Bakry, Program Director at Operation Smile – Egypt
The meeting served to welcome the Operation Smile team and review the activation plan of the joint cooperation agreement between the Faculty and the organization.
This event was a unique educational and humanitarian experience that enhanced the clinical skills of dental interns while providing essential care to children in need. It exemplifies the Faculty’s mission to integrate academic excellence with meaningful community service.
A satisfaction survey conducted among participants reported a 100% satisfaction rate.
The Faculty looks forward to strengthening this valuable collaboration and continuing to organize impactful initiatives that contribute to both patient well-being and student development.

استقبال كلية طب الفم والأسنان لقافلة مؤسسة عملية الابتسامة – مصر بمجمع العيادات بالجامعة
تحت رعاية السيد الأستاذ الدكتور القائم بأعمال رئيس الجامعة والسيد الأستاذ الدكتور عميد كلية طب الفم والأسنان قامت إدارة خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة بكلية طب الفم والأسنان بتنظيم قافلة علاجية وتوعوية بالتعاون مع مؤسسة عملية الابتسامة – مصر (Operation Smile Egypt) داخل مجمع العيادات بالكلية ،وذلك في إطار حرص كلية طب الفم والأسنان على تقديم خدمات مجتمعية في محيط الجامعة الجغرافي والمناطق السكنية المحيطة وتوفير الرعاية المتخصصة للحفاظ على صحة الفم والأسنان للأطفال، وقد تم استقبال القافلة بالكلية على مدار ثلاثة أيام وهي الأحد 20، الثلاثاء 22، والأربعاء 23 من شهر يوليو 2025.
