نظمت جامعة مصر الدولية حفلاً لتكريم أعضاء هيئة التدريس و الهيئة المعاونة بمختلف كليات الجامعة ممن حصلوا على درجات علمية أعلى و نشروا أبحاث و ذلك يوم الإثنين الموافق 3/12/ 2018.
كما نظمت الجامعة حفلاً آخراً لتكريم أعضاء الجهاز الإداري في مختلف إدارات الجامعة وذلك احتفالاً بترقيات العاملين بالجهاز الإداري يوم الأربعاء الموافق 3/14/ 2018.
حضر الإحتفاليتين أ. محمد الرشيدي رئيس مجلس أمناء الجامعة ، أ.د. محمد شبل الكومي رئيس الجامعة ، أ.د. أحمد عماد نائب رئيس الجامعة لشئون التعليم و الطلاب و لشئون الدراسات العليا و أ.د. محاسن فرغلي نائب رئيس الجامعة لشئون خدمة المجتمع و تنمية البيئة.
تأتي هاتين الإحتفاليتين تكريماً و عرفاناً من إدارة الجامعة بالجهود المبذولة من أعضاء هيئة التدريس و الهيئة المعاونة و العاملين بالجهاز الإداري بالجامعة من أجل إعلاء شأن الجامعة بين الجامعات المصرية.

On the occasion of celebrating the International Disability Day, the Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Right to Live Association for Intellectual Disabilities, organized a seminar entitled “Integrating People with Disabilities into the Community” on December 2, 2019.

Mr. Hassaan Abdel Fattah, Special Education Consultant & Technical Director at the Right to Live Association, talked about the different types of intellectual disabilities and highlighted the opportunities of integrating people with disabilities into the community.   He also called for policy makers and community members to pay greater attention to their needs and potential in order to make society more inclusive for everyone.

نظم مركز التميز في الترجمة والتطويع التابع لكلية الألسن والإعلام دورة تدريبية في الترجمة السمعية والبصرية فى الفترة من الأحد 28 يوليه إلى الخميس 1 أغسطس 2019. شارك في الدورة عدد من الدارسين المهتمين بمجال الترجمة من بين الأكاديميين والمترجمين المحترفين والخريجين. شملت الدورة جانب نظري تعرف فيه المشاركون على تقنيات ترجمة الأفلام والدبلجة وأهم التحديات التي تواجه المترجم في هذا المجال، وفي الجانب العملي استعرض المحاضرون أحدث برامج الحاسوب في ترجمة الأفلام، وتم تدريب المشاركين على استخدامها. ثم قام المشاركون بتنفيذ مشروع لترجمة الأفلام وآخر في الدبلجة. استضافت الكلية الأستاذة وفاء محي، مدير شركة سعودي سوفت في مصر والفنان كريم الحسيني لتقييم مشاريع الدارسين وتم توزيع الشهادات على المشاركين بحضور عميد الكلية.

Mr. Amir A-Shennawy was invited to guest lecture for Mass Communication Documentaries classes about “the use of music in documentaries” on October 18, 2017.
Mr. Shennawy got his MA in documentary film making from Goldsmith university, London, UK.
The lecture gave the students a strong insight into music and documentaries. It was an eye opener to new techniques in the preproduction phase dealing with the M & E track.
Mr. Shennawy used 5 different documentaries of various genres, schools and nationalities to explain the wide range of choices that documentarians have when adding the music to the final soundtrack.

The Mass Communication invited Professor Shaun Schafer, Chair of the Journalism and Technical Communication Department at the Metropolitan University of Denver, to guest lecture on various topics from February 25 to March 8, 2018.
Schafer’s visit was a continuation of the professors’ exchange program between MIU and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Dr. Schafer has contributed to the department’s evaluation and development since his first visit in 2005.
During his two-week visit, Professor Schafer lectured in a number of courses, including Communication Theories, Online Journalism, Special Topics in Journalism and Introduction to Political Communication. Furthermore, he participated in the evaluation of the fifth week presentations of the Integrated Marketing Communication graduation projects and the Journalism graduation projects.
The visit was Professor Schafer’s sixth one to MIU. In his post-visit feedback report, he stated he was impressed by MIU students and faculty. He also enjoyed the opportunity to interact with them and view the projects they produced.

Under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abd El Ghaffar, Minister of the Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Universities, Misr International University and the Supreme Council’s Committee of Planning and Media Studies Sector organized the first-of-its-kind conference on April 23^rd, 2017 at MIU premises to tackle and develop the postgraduate studies’ issues in the mass media field in Egypt.

The conference proposed new criteria for the postgraduate studies and research, as well as set up rules for the higher educational institutions that grant Master and PhD degrees for the purpose of ensuring high quality research.

Dr. Khaled Abd El Ghaffar said that Egypt now is experiencing challenges on the national and international levels; therefore development of postgraduate studies, together with creating strategic plans that guide the Egyptian media, are both crucial for the welfare and progress of the society.

The conference was attended by more than 200 faculty deans, professors and representatives of public and private universities all over Egypt including Dr. Samy Abdelaziz, Head of Supreme Council’s Committee of Planning and Media Studies Sector, Dr. Jihan Yousri Abo El Ela, Dean of Mass Communication at Cairo University, Dr. Suzan Al Qelini, Dean of Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University. In addition , MIU alumni and senior students attended the conference and exchanged their opinions on the issue with Egypt’s brightest experts in the field to help the Supreme Council in mapping out the new criteria and requirements of the upcoming phase and taking a final decision in that matter.

Professor Hamdy Hassan the university Vice President, Faculty of Al-Alsun & Mass Communication Dean and Committee Member, affirmed that the conference is a successful first step on the road of identifying the obstacles faced by this sector and in setting up certain standards for the institutions granting postgraduate degrees, in the hope of producing quality rather than quantity research work.

في إطار مشاركة كلية الألسن والإعلام في خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة، نظمت الكلية عدة زيارات لجمعية مصر للثقافة وتنمية البيئة في الفترة من 16 حتى 22 يوليو 2019. قام قسم الإعلام بالزيارة الأولى يوم الثلاثاء الموافق 16 يوليو 2019 ممثلًا في د. حنان كيلاني وكيل الكلية لشئون خدمة المجتمع وتنمية البيئة ود. علياء طريفي و د. عمرو جلال الأساتذة بالقسم بالتعاون مع 25 طالبًا من طلاب القسم الذين يدرسون مقررات مرتبطة بالتصميم الإعلاني والتصوير بتقديم ورشة عمل تعليمية وتثقيفية للأطفال المترددين على مكتبة الجمعية. كما قدم القسم في الزيارة الثانية يوم الأربعاء الموافق 17 يوليو 2019 ورشة عمل عن فنون التصوير الفوتوغرافي وقام ثمانية من طلاب قسم الإعلام الذين يدرسون مقرر تقنيات الكاميرا بالتدريب على تصوير الزيارة كاملة فى الثلاث أيام كجزء من الفرض الدراسي لمنتصف الفصل الدراسي الصيفي مع اختيار أفضل فيديو من تصوير الطلاب لإهدائه إلى جمعية مصر للثقافة وتنمية البيئة. وقام قسم الألسن يوم الاثنين الموافق 22 يوليو 2019، بحضور د. حنان كيلاني و د. انجى فاروق الأستاذ بالقسم والمعيدة نادين ناصف وطلاب من القسم بتقديم ورشة عمل عن المصطلحات الشائعة في اللغة الإنجليزية وورشة أخرى عن رواية القصة وقام فريق الزيارة أيضا بإهداء الأطفال قصصا باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، وقصصا قام بكتابتها وتصميمها طلاب من قسم الألسن كجزء من مشروع تخرجهم.

The Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication organized its 1^st Interdisciplinary Research Forum on December 3, 2018. The purpose of the Forum is to promote the discussion and exchange of views among Faculty members and to encourage interdisciplinary research collaboration.
The Forum kicked off with the topic, “Gender Across the Disciplines” which discussed gender intersections with other disciplines. The speakers included Dr. Nagwa El Gazzar on “Gender Role Portrayals in Advertising: A Content Analysis,” Dr. Hoda Awad on “Gender and Power,” and Ms. Rana Elbowety on “Literature and Gender Studies: Intersecting Disciplines.” The presentations were followed by a lively discussion.
