ALS & MCM Organize Workshop on Managing Innovation in Academia

The Faculty of Al Alsun and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the DAAD Kairo Akademie, organized a workshop on “Managing Innovation in Academia” on Sept. 19, 2019.

The workshop was led by Dr. Galal H. Galal -Eldeen, Professor of Information Systems at Cairo University and Visiting Professor at University College, London. It was attended by a majority of the Ph.D. holders in the faculty.

The workshop focused on the essential nature of innovation, the critical success factors required for innovation, and the methods of creating policies and strategies that enable and inspire innovation in academia.

first international conference on “Recent Trends in Translation Technology”

The Department of Al-Alsun, Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication is organizing its first international conference on “Recent Trends in Translation Technology”, to be held at the University premises on April 6-7, 2019.  The Conference aims to provide a forum for the discussion of the impact of recent technologies on the translation profession by bringing together scholars, practitioners and translation industry professionals.

Mrs. Manal Amin

The Faculty of Al-Alsun hosted Mrs. Manal Amin, founder and CEO of the Translation Company, Arabize on the 16th of November. Mrs. Manal gave a lecture entitled “The Localization Industry” in which she discussed how to localize language in translation and the opportunities for fresh graduates to work as translators and editors.

Ain Shams University
Misr International University has sponsored the 33rd CDELT National Symposium of the Centre for Developing English Language Teaching, Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University. The symposium took place at Ain Shams University Guest House on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of October 2015. Four of Al-Alsun professors have delivered presentations that cover the topics of the symposium.  Dr. Rasha El-Gohary and Dr. Sherine Ali have presented on Teaching Literature, Dr. Ingy Emara on Linguistics and Dr. Sama Dawood on Translation. Around 200 of Al-Alsun students attended the symposium as a new cultural and educational experience.

 

“How to Perform First Aid” Seminar for Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Students

The Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication organized a seminar on “How to perform First Aid” on February 24, 2020 led by Dr. Fetouh Hassanien, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Director of Care and Emergency at Misr International University.  Dr. Fetouh explained that first aid is the immediate care provided when a person is suddenly ill or injured until full medical treatment is offered. He highlighted several first-aid topics such as general first aid overview, burns, heat emergencies and heart attacks. He also showcased several videos of critical cases to demonstrate the appropriate type of aid in each case.

Al-Alsun Field Training

Sixty-Four senior Alsun students had their field training at Misr American College and Orouba Language Schools. The first group visited the schools from 10/4/2016 to 14/4/2016 and the second group from 17/4/2016 to 21/4/2016. They observed classes and took part in preparing class activities.

MIU Al-Alsun Department – Summer Training 2016

Aiming to enhance the students’ skills and providing the labor market with qualified graduates, MIU Al-Alsun Department was delighted to offer Summer Training Courses in collaboration with prominent translation agencies.
The first training course was at Arabize Translation and Localization Company. It proved to be of utmost benefit to the students, sharpening their translation skills.
In the second course, other Al-Alsun students joined field training at Masreya Media Subtitling Agency. They got trained on subtitling and new software for audio-visual translation, building upon what they have learned in their subtitling course.

As part of its endeavor to prepare its students for the highly competitive job market, MIU Al-Alsun Department offered training for 58 students at Al-Ahram Regional Institute for Journalism under the supervision of its Director Mr. Sameh Abdallah.
Al-Ahram training covered three tracks: Journalistic Translation, Electronic Journalism at Al-Ahram Online, and Arabic Editing of News. 42 students attended the journalistic translation course from the July 24 till the August 15, 2016. They were trained on editing and translation of news articles by Mr. Hani Asal, a renowned journalist at Al-Ahram.
Four students attended Al-Ahram Online course in which they were trained by Ms. Dina Samak on the arts of electronic journalism, from the July 24 till the August 22, 2016.
Twelve students attended the Arabic Editing course and they were trained by Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Mohamed El-Desouky, from the August 21 to August 29, 2016. They were introduced to the principles of journalism, news criticism, and editing Arabic news articles.

Dr. Richard Lemm

After several successful visits to MIU, Dr. Richard Lemm, Professor of English Literature at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, is coming to MIU to give two literature courses to Al-Alsun students from 4/10/2015 till 18/10/2015. He is going to teach Shakespearean Studies and English Literature from the 17th Century to the 19th Century.

IMC Graduation Project Wins GFF Award

An MIU Integrated Marketing Communication graduation project won a Gouna Film Festival Award. The festival’s fourth edition was held from October 23-31.
The IMC Graduation Project was about the “Egyptian Cinema Experience”, which is a museum that revives the Egyptian Cinema Heritage. The project was produced by eight enthusiastic graduates of Mass Communication. The MIU graduates got an A in the project, yet they did not stop there after graduation; the graduates had a vision of implementing their project and applied in a competition at GFF.

The judging panel at GFF consisted of Sawires’ son, actress Sherine Reda and Nermine Farag. The panel chose the IMC project to be of the best 3 chosen projects that they will help to be actually implemented into real life. The judging panel was amazed that they were the only Fresh Graduates who were able to come up with such an interesting project amidst a pandemic.

The panel granted our IMC graduates the 3rd prize and promised to connect them with investors and Head of the Culture Ministry’s General Directorate Mr Khaled Abdelgelil.
The MIU graduates intend to continue working on implementing the project and ‘shining’ in the industry.

قسم الاعلام يعقد ندوة عن المهارات الاعلامية للعمل في الفضائيات العربية

 

إستضافت كلية الالسن والاعلام –قسم الاعلام –الاعلامي الكبير محمد علي خير يوم الاربعاء 29 نوفمبر للتحدث عن المهارات الاعلامية لطالب الاعلام للعمل في الفضائيات العربية .
تحدث خير عن كيفية تطوير المهارات الاعلامية لدي طالب الاعلام وأهمية التدريب الميداني والمواد العملية التي يدرسها الطالب اثناء فترة الدراسة .
وحكي الاعلامي الكبير تجربتة في العمل الاذاعي في راديو 9090 وميجا أف أم وكيفية كتابة وأعداد البرامج الاذاعية وشدد خير علي أهمية الابتكار في الافكار الجديد لجذب المستمع.
كما اشار خير الي تجربته للعمل في قناة القاهرة والناس وكيفية أختيار الموضوعات لبرنامجه المصري أفندي و أهمية الفقرة التي يقدمها للتواصل مع المشاهدين وحل مشاكل المواطنين عن طريق اذاعة المشكلات علي الهواء والتواصل مع المسؤلين والوزراء .
وفي نهاية الندوة عرض خير فرص التدريب الاذاعي والتليفزيوني للطلاب خلال فترة الصيف وكيفية الخروج بافكار جديدة للبرامج .
