Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Faculty Hosts Seminar on the Legacy of Egyptian Craftsmen

The Faculty of Al-Alsun and Mass Communication Community Service Committee organized a seminar on May 12, 2026, titled “Egyptian Craftsmen Through History”, led by Dr. Sabry Al-Adl to examine the historical journey of traditional crafts and their significance to Egyptian heritage.

Dr. Al-Adl traced the developmental stages of Egyptian manual crafts, stressing the urgent need to preserve this heritage in the face of modern globalization. To prevent these crafts from disappearing, he urged for a shift toward active promotion and consumer support, encouraging the public to invest in authentic, handmade product created by traditional Egyptian craftsmen.

Dr. Al-Adl called upon the students to take a proactive role in this preservation effort. He urged Al-Alsun students to utilize their linguistic skills to write and translate articles into English to give these crafts global exposure. Meanwhile, he encouraged Mass Communication students to produce documentaries and social media reels to digitally document and market these unique crafts.

Through emphasizing the protection and safeguarding of the world’s cultural and natural heritage, the seminar aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

كلية الألسن والإعلام تستضيف ندوة حول تراث الحرفيين المصريين

نظمت لجنة خدمة المجتمع بكلية الألسن والإعلام ندوة بعنوان “حرفيون مصريون عبر التاريخ” في 12 مايو 2026 ألقاها الدكتور صبري العدل وتناول فيها المسيرة التاريخية للحرف التقليدية وأهميتها للتراث المصري.
وقد استعرض الدكتور العدل مراحل تطور الحرف اليدوية المصرية مشددًا على الحاجة الملحة للحفاظ على هذا التراث في مواجهة العولمة الحديثة. ولحماية هذه الحرف من الاندثار دعا إلى التوجه نحو الترويج الفعال ودعم المستهلك مشجعًا الجمهور على الاستثمار في المنتجات اليدوية المصرية لأصيلة.
كما دعا الدكتور العدل الطلاب للقيام بدور استباقي في جهود الحفاظ على التراث حيث حث طلاب كلية الألسن على استغلال مهاراتهم اللغوية في كتابة وترجمة مقالات ترويجية لمنح هذه الحرف انتشارًا عالميًا. وفي الوقت ذاته شجع طلاب الإعلام على إنتاج أفلام وثائقية ومقاطع فيديو قصيرة (Reels) لتوثيق وتسويق هذه الحرف الفريدة رقميًا.
وتتماشى الندوة مع أهداف التنمية المستدامة للأمم المتحدة وتحديدًا الهدف الحادي عشر “مدن ومجتمعات محلية مستدامة” من خلال التأكيد على حماية وحفظ التراث الثقافي والطبيعي العالمي.
