Al-Alsun Students Gain First-Hand Academic Experience at International Linguistics Conference

In alignment with the Applied Linguistics (Al-Alsun) Department commitment to experiential learning, 35 students from the ENG200 – Introduction to Research Methods course participated in a field visit to Cairo University on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

The purpose of the visit was to attend the Fourth International Sociolinguistics Conference, providing students with meaningful exposure to the global academic community. Highlights of the experience included:

• Engagement: Attendees explored contemporary methodologies in sociolinguistic research.
• Integration: The trip bridged the gap between theoretical coursework and real-world scholarly practice.

Following the conference, students were tasked with presenting their observations in class, analyzing research steps, and refining their own individual research topics based on the discussions they witnessed. This initiative continues the Department’s mission to foster academic excellence through practical application.

شارك 35 طالبًا من المسجلين في مقرر “مقدمة في مناهج البحث” في زيارة ميدانية إلى جامعة القاهرة يوم الأحد الموافق 8 فبراير 2026.
هدفت الزيارة إلى حضور فعاليات “المؤتمر الدولي الرابع لعلم اللغة الاجتماعي” مما أتاح للطلاب فرصة قيّمة للانخراط في المجتمع الأكاديمي الدولي. وقد شملت هذه التجربة ما يلي:
• المشاركة والتفاعل: اطلع الحاضرون على المنهجيات المعاصرة في بحوث علم اللغة الاجتماعي.
• الربط والتكامل: ساهمت الرحلة في سد الفجوة بين المقررات الدراسية النظرية والممارسة البحثية الواقعية.
وفي أعقاب المؤتمر كُلف الطلاب بتقديم عروض توضيحية لعرض ملاحظاتهم وتحليل خطوات البحث التي تمت مناقشتها وتطوير موضوعات أبحاثهم الخاصة بناءً على ما شهدوه من نقاشات. وتأتي هذه المبادرة استمرارًا لمهمة القسم في تعزيز التميز الأكاديمي من خلال التطبيق العملي.
