Academic Advising Procedures

The Faculty assigns an academic advisor from the staff members for each group of students. The advisor will be fully responsible for the group’s academic affairs and for the selection of their courses. The students should be in contact with their advisors within the registration period of every academic semester in order to help them register for their courses.

The average academic load for a regular student in an academic semester ranges from 4-6 courses or 12-19 hours per week in addition to his/her study of an intensive English course. The summer semester average academic load ranges from 1-2 courses.

If the student gets a GPA less than (2.00), he/she is Placed on Probation and is under academic supervision for the following two semesters where he/she should be in contact with his advisor at least twice a month. His/Her GPA must be higher than (2.00) by the end of the second semester. Otherwise, the student will be suspended. When the student is placed on probation, he/she must not take more than 4 courses with 12-14 credit hours per semester in addition to a non-credit English course.

1) If students do not show up during the advising period, their schedules are "done by advisor", and therefore, they are not allowed to drop or add any course.

2) Students must check their MIU e-mail regularly to be well aware of all steps related schedules & advising.
