Business Students Attend a Workshop at Zurich this Summer
Eight MIU students from the Faculty of Business visited the School of Management
and Law, Zurich University of Applied Science this summer to learn about the economy
of Switzerland. The workshop, which lasted from June 30th to July 7th 2008 reflected
MIU’s commitment to provide students with first-hand training and expertise from
around the globe.
Throughout the workshop, MIU students learned about Swiss History and Politics,
and why Switzerland did not join the European Union, in a lecture given by Professor
W.Siegenthaler. While visiting Mount Castle Schaffhausen, Prof. W. Siegenthaler
delivered a second lecture on the role of Switzerland in World War II.
Professor Armin Jans in, two lectures, provided MIU students with substantial information
on the Swiss economy and its relationship with the European Union. MIU students
also attended a lecture on the “Swiss Banking Industry: State of Affairs and Prospects”
by Professor Peter Meier.
The workshop also included guided tours to Zimmer International and Maestrani AG.
The students travelled to Zurich twice, visiting historical and shopping places.
They went on a short tour in Winterthur guided by a student from Zurich. HR Expert
at SOM, Professor Beker, was also invited for one week to deliver some HR cases
to MIU students.
